DepED Manila Schools Hold Week-Long Band Fiesta in Celebration of Araw ng Maynila

    In celebration of the 441st Araw ng Maynila, DepED Manila held a week-long Band Fiesta at different venues of Manila from June 18-21, 2012.

Isang Araw sa Ika-12 Taon



     Mariano Marcos Memorial High School, a School for the Performing Arts (SPA), celebrated its 12th year as an SPA by holding a recital at the school auditorium on March 21, 2012. A well-attended affair, the recital featured performances in dance (local and foreign dances), theatre, music (vocal and instrumental renditions) and visual arts (video). DepED Manila congratulates the principal, Dr. Virginia Bermudez, the SPA teachers, students and alumni of the school for the success of the activity.

ISANG LAHI, An AC Herrera Cultural Presentation









     AC Herrera Elementary School in Tondo, Manila staged a cultural presentation entitled ISANG LAHI on March 23, 2012. The one and a half hour cultural show featured dances from the Cordilleras, Muslim, Maria Clara and rural dances. Ms. Concepcion Pasumbal , PE Supervisor, acknowledged with admiration the excellent presentation of native dances which were ably put together by Ms. Natividad G. Corpuz with the able help of her co-teachers. Aside from Principal Ms. Marilyn Osunero who provided the inspiration for the realization of the project, parents, former teachers and alumni of ACHerrera Elementary School supported the show through sponsorships and donations. HOn. Councilor Lacsamana, former principal Wilfredo Nillo, District II Principal Ms. Marilou Calma and ASDS Narcisa Sta.Ana also attended the cultural activity.

Sandiwang Kayumanggi Folk Dance Troupe Celebrates 3rd Decade Anniversary

     The Sandiwang Kayumanggi Dance Troupe of CPGarcia High School celebrated its 3rd decade anniversary on March 9, 2012 at the Philamlife Auditorium with the dance concert Indayog: 3 Dekada. The Sandiwang Kayumanggi Folk Dance Troupe (SKFDT) is a recipient of the Best Production Dance Award from the Francisca Reyes Aquino Memorial Foundation sponsored by the NCCA. Congatulations SKFDT!You are DepEd Manila's pride!

DepEd Manila JOins EDSA 24th Anniversary Celebration






    

  DepEd Manila joined the celebration of the 26th EDSA People Power Revolution . More than 10,000 fourth year high school students and almost 100% of DepEd's teaching and non-teaching personnel joined the activity at the corner of P.Burgos and Roxas Boulevard, where the monuments of President Corazon Aquino, Sen. Benigno Aquino and His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin are located. The Ramon Magsaysay High School Choir rendered the song "Bayan KO."

      The wreath-laying ceremony for the late president Corazon Aquino was led by her son, President Noynoy Aquino during the 26th anniversary celebration of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

Talagang napakagandang araw po sa inyong lahat.
Nais ko pong magpasalamat sa lahat ng nakikiisa sa atin ngayong umaga sa pag-aalay natin ng bulaklak sa monumento ng aking mga magulang: si Ninoy Aquino at Cory Aquino. Nais man po naming ituring na personal ang pagkakataong ito, batid po nating bahagi na ng kasaysayan ang kanilang mga pangalan.
Naaalala ko pa nga po: nang pumanaw ang nanay ko po noong Agosto 2009, agad pong nag-alok ang dating administrasyon na papatayuan ng rebulto ang aming ina. Tinanggihan po namin ito, dahil alam naming mas gugustuhin pa rin niyang maisaayos ang pamamahala sa bansa, kaysa mapatayuan ng kanyang sariling estatwa. Mas gugustuhin niyang makitang nakatindig ang ating bayan, malaya sa katiwalian at karahasan, kaysa mapatayuan ng sariling rebulto.
May kasabihan nga po iyong mga nakakatanda sa akin: ang sabi po nila, konting bato, konting semento: monumento. May dambana nga sa lansangan, wala namang makain sa pinggan. May estatwa nga sa plaza, wala naman trabaho si Juan. Higit sa anumang rebulto at pagdiriwang, mas maisasabuhay natin ang kadakilaan ng lahat ng bayani ng EDSA kung kikilos tayo para pangalagaan ang kanilang pamana: ang atin pong minamahal na demokrasya.
Ito po marahil ang hamon ni Ninoy at Cory sa atin ngayon: ang araw-araw na isapuso ang diwa ng EDSA People Power Revolution. Noon, milyong-milyong Pilipino ang nagtipon—mapa-sibilyan o alagad ng simbahan—upang tumindig at magkapit-bisig para sa kalayaan. Nagawa nilang harangin ang mga tangke at kanyon, nang walang bitbit na armas kundi pananampalataya at pagmamahal sa kapwa. Taumbayan po mismo ang nanindigan at bumawi sa ipinagkait sa kanilang kalayaan.
Ngayon, matapos ang dalawampu’t anim na taon, malinaw na hindi pa rin tapos ang ating laban. Nitong nakaraang dekada ay muling nabalot sa dilim ang ating bayan, at ngayon, ito na nga po ang nilalabanan at binabago ng atin pong pamahalaan. Sa ilalim ng liwanag ng tapat at mabuting pamamahala, tiwala akong mararating natin ang isang bansang malaya sa korupsyon at kahirapan. Sa tuloy-tuloy nating pagkakapit-bisig sa tuwid na daan, tiwala akong maaabot natin ang isang lipunang malaya sa hudikaturang may dalawang mukha—na may isang sistemang pangkatarungang may pinapanigan, at tungo sa isang balanseng timbangan.
Buo po ang loob ko na kaya nating mapagtagumpayan ang labang ito, na kaya nating makamit ang inaasam nating pagbabago. Anuman pong bigat ang pasanin natin sa ating balikat, hindi po tayo titiklop o magpapatinag. Hangga’t may ngiti tayong naihahatid kay Juan dela Cruz, hindi po tayo mauubusan ng dahilan upang suklian din ng ngiti ang ating paglilingkod sa bayan.
Tandaan lamang po natin: ang trabaho sa pagkamit sa pagbabago ay trabaho ng bawat Pilipino—hindi lamang po ni Ninoy at ni Cory Aquino. Ngayong ganap na tayong malaya, ngayong natatanglawan na tayo ng liwanag ng demokrasya, samantalahin na po natin ito: muli nating pag-alabin ang diwa ng EDSA at ipamalas ang bayanihan, tungo sa isang mas maliwanag na kinabukasan.
Kayang-kaya po natin ito. Tara na po, Pilipino!

140th Commemmoration of GOMBURZA Martyrdom




The Division of City Schools joined the City of Manila in the 140th commemmoration of the martyrdom of Fr. Burgos, Fr. Gomez and Fr. Zamora on February 17 at the Gomburza Shrine, Rizal Park. Gomez Elementary School's Angklung Ensemble performed an intermission number during the event. After the wreath laying, principals, students and teachers proceeded to Paco Park for a mass and wreath laying at the tombs of the three martyr priests.
