DepED Manila Ties Up with Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc and Polytechnic University of the Philippines for Road Safety Camp





     To increase the level of awareness on road safety and eventually reduce road casualties, Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc., the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and The Metro Manila Development Authority tied up with DepED Manila for the conduct of the Road Safety Camp which was held on October 30, 2012 at the PUP Gymnasium. The program, which is on its second year of implementation, is also in line with the United Nations campaign declaring 2011 to 2020 as a Decade of Action for Road Safety.
     Twenty five students from each of the selected ten schools of District VI participated in the camp which consisted of interactive activities conducted in learning bases that taught children how to observe safety on the road. The modules used for the activities were about pedestrian safety, commuter safety, bicycle safety, general road conduct, motorcycle safety and concepts on defensive driving. MAPEH teachers who accompanied the student participants to the training were also given modules to be integrated in their lessons on road safety in Physical Education. The student participants, who were provided free transport to and from the venue, free T shirts , refreshment and learning materials by PSFI are from Bagong Barangay ES, Bagong Diwa ES, Beata ES, Pio del PIlar ES, Sta.Ana ES, Bacood ES, Zamora ES, CP Garcia HS, E Rodriguez ES , Mariano Marcos Memorial HS. iT is ex[ected that students who participated in the training shall assist their teachers in mentoring their schoolmates.
