K4 Project Implementation Review




Special guest ASEC Tonisito Umali inspires participants to continue implementing the K4 project, an ALS intervention that helps street children acquire learning skills and them to go back to school. 


     The Department of Education , in coordination with the Dynamic Teen Company, conducted a two-day Project Implementation Review Meeting vis-a-vis project targets, activities, processes, including the outcomes of implementing the K4 Project. The review was held at the Regional Education Learning Center at Pulungbulo, Angeles City on August 29-31, 2012. Participants to the program review were representatives from DepED, principals, ALS implementers and barangay representatives.
      Selected city divisions implementing the K4 (Kariton, Kantina, Klinik, Klasrum) project planned for the replication of the intervention. Revisions on how the project could be improved were also made particularly on the management of learning of children on the streets and of the streets. Implementation of the first K4 project in Manila is being done in Bgy. 310 , with Chairman Thelma Lim as main partner of DepED Manila. So far, the project which started late March of 2012 has identified 25 street children in  the City Jail area and fourteen (14) of the identified OSY have been mainstreamed in some  District III elementary and secondary schools.
