K4 Grand Launch

The Department of Education in collaboration with the Dynamic Teen Company headed by 2009 CNN Hero Efren G. Penaflorida held the grand launching of K4 (Kariton, Klasrum, Klinik at Kantin), a project that aims to help street children, out of school children, child labourers and drop-outs go back to formal schooling and eventually complete their basic education.

                The launch was held on 14 January 2012 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.  Invited to the event were representatives from the 17 cities of the National Capital Region.

                Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ponciano A. Menguito together with ALS OIC Melita Aguila and ALS District coordinators received Manila’s kariton for the project from Dynamic Teen Company in the presence of DepED Secretary Br. Armin Luistro and other DepEd Officials.

                Also present during the activity was Hon. Alfredo S. Lim, Mayor of Manila, who expressed his heartfelt support for the project. Mayor Lim also extolled teachers, principals and other educators for their vital role in educating the youth and ensuring that out-of-school youth are given access to education.
