Division Office Personnel Holds 2012 GAD Seminar








 The Division Office Personnel Association (DOPA) members attended a seminar workshop entitled Gender Responsive Planning (GRP) cum Gender Sensitivity for Non Teaching Personnel on April 19-20, 2012 at La Vista, Pansol , Laguna.  Concepts of Gender Responsive Planning, Visioning ,  Internalization and Mainstreaming were discussed by speakers which included Dr. Lucita Gener , Supervisor and Ms. Cynthia Mercado, Coordinator of the Manila Guidance and Testing Center.

National Capital Region Leads in National Schools Press Conference

        The National Capital Region delegation to the National Schools Press Conference emerged as over-all champion in the  secondary level competitions held at Puerto Princesa City , Palawan. The elementary level delegates to the conference got fourth place in the over-all ranking of regions.

      Manila's winnings in the different categories are as follows:
Group Contests 
  •  First Place - Isports - SILAHIS - Ramon Magsaysay High School
  • Second Place -Lathalain- SILAHIS -  Ramon Magsaysay High School
  • Fourth Place - Collaborative Publishing - Manuel Roxas and Laurel High School
  • Eighth Place Over-all in Filipino - SILAHIS , Ramon Magsaysay High School
 Individual Contests
  • Second Place - Regina Mae Alba - Copyreading - Bonifacio Elementary School
  • Second Place - Vincent Bryan Velez- Pagsulat ng Isports- Ramon Magsaysay High School
      Manila Science High School got Second Place in the Tagisan ng Talino competitions and Fourth Place in the Balagtasan Contest.

     DepED Manila congratulates the winners, their trainers , principals and the Officers in Charge, Journalism Services as well as the Manila delegates to the conference. Kudos to Ms.Ayla Urrea, OIC, Journalism Services, for training the NCR contestants to the Tagisan ng Talino competition.

Rep. Antonio Tinio Donates Filipino Dictionaries to Manila Public Schools







     Rep. Antonio Tinio donated Filipino dictionaries to all public school libraries of DepED Manila on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. The ceremonial turn-over of the dictionaries took place at the DepED Conference Room with all principals and supervisors in attendance. Mr. Benjamin Valbuena, elected president of the Manila Public Schools Teachers' Association, distributed the books to the principals.

      The newly elected officers of the Manila Public School Teachers' Association (MPSTA) were inducted into office by Atty. Renato dela Cruz, City Legal Officer,  on April 3, 2012 at the Media Center of A. Mabini Elementary School. The induction was witnessed by faculty presidents of elementary and secondary schools of Manila.

Awarding Ceremonies for Natatanging Mag-aaral

    In line with the city government's policy of granting cash awards to honor students in all public elementary and secondary schools in Manila, first, second and third honorable students received cash grants of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 respectively from the city. Hon. Alfredo S. Lim gave the cash incentives in awarding ceremonies held at the P. Guevara Elementary School, Manila. A total of  P 480,000  for elementary level and P 192,000 for secondary level awardees were distributed on March 31, 2012.








Awarding Ceremonies for Valedictorians and Salutatorians

     DepEd Manila held its awarding ceremonies for Valedictorians and Salutatorians on March 31, 2012 at the San Andres Complex, Manila.  In the elementary level, 80 first honors  and 80 second  honor students received cash incentives of P5,000 and  P4,000 each , respectively.  For the secondary level, 32 valedictorians and salutatorians received the same cash grants.  The total cash grants given by the City Government to awardees in the elementary and secondary levels is P1,008,000.
